Trade Routes provide a way to transport Goods or Units from one island to another.

Types[]

There are two types of Trade Routes.

A Trade Route allows a Ship to travel back and forth between two islands. The Ship will pick up cargo at the source island and unload the entire cargo at the destination island, then return the source island and repeat indefinitely.

A Complex Trade Route follows a similar pattern except that it allows a Ship to make stops at multiple waypoints (islands) to load or unload different types of cargo at each stop.

Cargo Queue[]

When assigned to a Trade Route, a ship will sit offshore while it is slowly loaded or unloaded until the task is complete. This waiting period is called the Cargo Queue. Constructing a Cargo Kontor will reduce the Cargo Queue by half.

Duration[]

Duration of a Trade Route is determined by speed the Ship assigned to it. You can also Research ways to shorten the duration of Trade Routes.

Organizing[]

There are several ways to organize and track your Trade Routes.

Trade Routes are automatically assigned a name when they are created in order to make them easier to track and organize. You can edit the name by clicking on the Edit (pencil) button at the top of the page next to the Trade Route name.

You can reorder the Trade Routes by clicking on the checkbox at the bottom right. This allows you to rearrange them in your desired order.

You can filter Trade Routes by clicking on the Filter (funnel) button at the top on the right. This allows you filter Trade Routes based on Ship or based on Unit or Good being transported.

Tips[]

  • You cannot use Trade Routes to transport Population from one island to another.
  • You can assign more than one Ship to the same Trade Route.
  • Using the Ship View screen, you can manually load/unload a ship and send it to a new destination.
